On the night of 7 Apr 07, a team of Paranormal Investigators from the Society made a house call to Mr. C and interviewed him pertaining to his complains of paranormal activities in the home experienced by his mother. Through our interview, we deduced that Mr. C personally did not encounter any paranormal activities (other than hearing “thumping” sounds at night), and only his mother had been experiencing so.

Mr. C’s mother primary claim was that she had experienced “bites” and these had caused rashes on parts of her skin. She informed that the “medium” which she had visited had told her that her neighbour was rearing “little devils” which they had sent to bite her. Her other claims included hearing “thumping” sounds and sounds of moving furniture on the ceiling as well “thumping” sounds in her rubbish chutes. Mrs. C also complained of frequent giddy spells.

Our Society investigated the house and came up with the following deductions which have been explained and accepted by Mr. C and his mother:

(1) Unknown Bites causing rashes: - A detailed visual inspection of the mattress surface as well as its interior revealed traces of bedbugs (photo refers). As the room was stuffy and used/unused clothes were being hung exposed, the possibility of infestation on clothes is high, hence Mrs. Cai might not only experience such bites while sleeping, but also during her non-sleeping time.

(2) “Thumping” sounds / sounds of moving furniture from the ceiling: - We visited the upper level of Mr. Cai’s residence and discovered there were a few children / young persons living in the house. The possibility of the alleged sounds caused could be directly linked to the children.

(3) “Thumping” sounds coming out from the rubbish chute: - As Mr. C’s residence is on a lower floor and the rubbish chute is of a “shared chute system”, (i.e. all the units above him shares the same chute), the possibility of the alleged sounds caused by objects bumping onto the sides of the chute when thrown down was considerably high. We also explained that living on a lower unit might be directly linked to the higher occurence of such sounds being heard as there are many units above it.

(4) Giddy spells: - Though Mrs. C complained that she frequently had giddy spell and the medium had dictated to her that it had been caused by unknown “spirits”, we also noted that Mrs. C previous medical checkup had diagnosed her with a high level of blood-sugar content. She is currently on a medication.

On top of these findings, we also explained to Mr. C and his mother and prolonged exposure to the medium who had been telling her that her house was haunted could adversely affect her psychologically.
