Lemang is a traditional food originated from the Minangkabau people of Indonesia and Malaysia cooked in a hollowed bamboo stick lined with banana leaf to prevent the rice from sticking to the bamboo. Usually prepared for festivities such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Haji, lemang is made of glutinous rice and coconut milk, with salt added for taste. Lemang is usually eaten with rendang.
